Project Closure Announcement
Dear Algorand Community,
It is with a mix of emotions that we announce the sunset of Algorand Name Service. While we had envisioned ANS to decentralize the cornerstone infrastructure for digital identity and Web 3 hosting on the Algorand blockchain, we must humbly admit that it has fallen short of its intended goals.
First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each member of the Algorand community who supported us throughout this venture. Your dedication and enthusiasm fueled our determination, and we are deeply appreciative of the trust you placed in us.
Despite our best efforts, we failed to attract community contributors and participation to launch a successful DAO-driven domain name service infrastructure. We take responsibility for these shortcomings and acknowledge that we must learn from this experience to do better in the future.
Although ANS may not have lived up to its initial promise, we are committed to remaining at the forefront of blockchain innovation. Our commitment to decentralization, security, and user-centric solutions remains stronger than ever. We will continue to engage with the community, seeking feedback, and ensuring that our future endeavors are driven by your needs and aspirations.
Claim back Algos
- ANS domain holders can claim back their Algos at this link: https://algonameservice.domains/#/withdraw. Any wallet that has ever successfully registered an ANS domain will be able to claim back their registration fees.
- The Discord server, website, resolver APIs, and SDKs will remain active until November 15, 2023, to ensure we are able to assist all the users and projects with a smooth transition.
- All of ANS GitHub projects and documentation will be archived and will remain publicly available.
The conclusion of ANS is not the end of our journey; rather, it is a pivotal moment that allows us to reassess our direction. We understand that building groundbreaking technologies is a marathon, not a sprint, and we are prepared to invest the time and effort necessary to achieve our shared vision.
In conclusion, we want to thank you, our community, for standing by us throughout this journey. We remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that empower and enrich the Algorand ecosystem. Your continued support, feedback, and collaboration are the lifeblood of our progress.
