Lume Web provides suite of tools and services for lowering barriers of entry to Web 3. The Lume Browser extension already supports resolution of web 3 domains such as .eth, .sol, and HNS names resolution and has recently added support for .algo name resolution.

Algorand users with a .algo domain name can now host a static website on cloud hosting or on p2p storage infrastructure such as IPFS or Skynet and configure their domain to point to the corresponding identifier (IP Address/ Skynet Hash/ IPFS hash) for resolution by Lume Web in Firefox and Microsoft Edge browsers.

“Lume Web is miles ahead in the web 3 space with a truly decentralized, multi-chain resolver network that is already well-established, and Derrick Hammer (Lume Web CTO) has an incredible vision that will shape the future landscape of Web 3 in general”
- Sai Medury (Cofounder, ANS)

Lume Web mission

Lume Web is on a mission to simplify web 3 by lowering barriers for entry while maximizing for decentralization, censorship-resistance, and user privacy. The opensourced Lume Web Browser extension supports web 3 domain resolution for suffixes including .eth, .sol, .algo, and HNS names. This browser extension (available at web3extension.com) leverages a cross-chain resolver network that is built using exclusively p2p infrastructure such as gundb for operating p2p distributed cache and relay nodes that are connected to Pocket Network and Algo Node. Lume Web also manages the most-advanced Skynet portal (fileportal.org) for supporting web 3 storage needs. This resolver network, combined with scalable and decentralized storage by Skynet, form the building blocks to Lume Web’s mission.

ANS partnership with Lume Web

“Lume Web is happy to partner with ANS (Algorand Name Service). They are one of the *few* grass-roots, FOSS projects pushing to bring a user-owned web, and their ethos matches what Lume Web stands for. There is too much VC-owned “web3 space” which is not really web3, but more of web2, even if we *DO* get some cool tech from it, and I am happy to find kindred-spirits in ANS”
- Derrick Hammer (CTO, Lume Web)

The ANS team share with Lume Web team the core principles of maximizing decentralization and providing community-goods. Integration of ANS in Lume Web resolver and browser extension is the first step in their partnership that will kickstart web 3 hosting for Algorand users. Subsequently, they plan to build secure and privacy-preserving networking and communication infrastructure on mobile and desktop platforms for Algorand users. This includes HTTPS on web 3 domain resolution, support on mobile browsers, p2p messaging, decentralized email, and DAO infrastructure.
